Nearly 100,000 violate ECQ guidelines nationwide

Nearly 100,000 individuals have violated enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) guidelines nationwide from March 17 to April 9, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Of the total violators, 58,051 were from Luzon, 18,124 from Visayas, and 23,151 from Mindanao.

A total of 24,569 violators were arrested, 4,584 were fined, and 70,173 others were warned.

Additionally, 673 individuals were arrested for hoarding and profiteering activities.

Authorities also apprehended 7,898 public transport vehicles for violating the ban on mass transportation.

The PNP, through the Joint Task Force Corona Virus Shield (JTF CV Shield), is collaborating with barangay officials and tanods to enforce the ECQ and will not hesitate to arrest persistent violators.

The enhanced community quarantine in Luzon, initially set to end on April 14, has been extended by President Rodrigo Duterte until April 30.
