Former cop wanted for murder nabbed after 20 years

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has arrested Nico Cruz Garcia, a former police officer and a high-value individual wanted for murder, who had been in hiding for nearly 20 years.

Garcia was arrested in San Fernando, Pampanga, under a warrant issued in November 2006 by the Makati City Regional Trial Court Branch 142.

NCRPO chief Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin stated that Garcia will face trial for the murder case filed against him.

Brig. Gen. Manuel Abrugena, SPD Director, highlighted the arrest as a testament to law enforcement's dedication to holding fugitives accountable, regardless of how long they evade justice.

In a separate operation, the NCRPO also arrested Cpl. Michael Mones, an active police officer assigned to PRO 3, during a buy-bust operation in Pasay City.
