Ex-police officer wanted for murder arrested after 20 years in hiding
A fugitive ex-police officer, Nico Cruz Garcia, 49, was apprehended in San Fernando, Pampanga on March 5 at 10:15 AM after being on the run for 20 years for a murder charge.
He was arrested at Block 7, Lot 1, Phase 1, Montana View, Barangay Panipuan, by virtue of a no-bail warrant issued in November 2006 by the Regional Trial Court Branch 142 in Makati City.
The arrest was a collaborative effort involving the Southern Police District (SPD), Pampanga's Provincial Police Office (PPO), and several local police units including the San Fernando City Police Station, Mexico Municipal Police Station, Macabebe MPS, and the 1st and 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Companies.
Garcia is currently detained at the Makati City Police Station for processing.
Brig. Gen. Manuel Abrugena, SPD district director, commended the successful operation.
