NCRPO eyes 10-hour Traslacion with 18,000 cops

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) aims to reduce the procession time for the 2026 Traslacion to 10-12 hours, a significant reduction from the over 20 hours it took last year and the fastest recorded.

To achieve this, police will be directly involved in moving the andas or carriage and the religious image along the 5.8-kilometer route from Quirino Grandstand to Quiapo Church.

NCRPO spokesperson Maj. Hazel Asilo stated that they will implement better crowd management and control, with some officers directly assisting in moving the carriage.

Some police personnel have volunteered to serve as hijos to help maintain order around the carriage.

The NCRPO plans to deploy over 18,000 personnel, with augmentation from Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and the Special Action Force, to ensure the safety of devotees.

Crowd estimates are expected to match or exceed last year's turnout of over eight million devotees.
