NCR to remain under alert level 1 until March 15

The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) has approved placing the National Capital Region (NCR) under COVID-19 Alert Level 1 from March 1 to March 15, 2022.

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III noted that the NCR was ready for de-escalation, with 83% of senior citizens vaccinated and over 100% of the target population fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

OCTA Research reported that the NCR's COVID-19 positivity rate dropped to 4.9%, falling below the World Health Organization's recommended 5%.

This marks the first time the NCR's positivity rate has been below 5% since December 26, 2021, before the Omicron variant surge.

The NCR remains classified as 'low risk' for COVID-19, with an average daily attack rate of 2.85 and a reproduction number of 0.21.
