PNP retains quarantine control points as NCR+ eases to GCQ
Quarantine control points (QCPs) will continue to be enforced at the borders of the NCR Plus, which includes Metro Manila and the provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal.
Despite the shift to a general community quarantine (GCQ) with heightened restrictions from May 15 to 31, non-essential travel into and out of the NCR Plus remains prohibited.
Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar has ordered the arrest and charging of individuals caught smuggling people in and out of the NCR Plus using cargo vehicles.
These vehicles used for illegal transport will also be impounded.
Eleazar's directive follows previous arrests made in March and April for violations of travel restrictions.
He also urged businesses allowed to operate to adhere strictly to capacity limits and health protocols.
