NCR COVID-19 positivity rate climbs to 16%

The COVID-19 daily positivity rate in the National Capital Region (NCR) climbed to 16% on July 22, according to OCTA Research.

This is an increase from the 14% one-week positivity rate reported for NCR on July 22, which was up from 12.7% on July 16.

Ten other areas, including Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Aklan, Antique, Capiz, and Isabela, recorded positivity rates above 20% on July 22.

Aklan, despite a decrease from 35% to 32.6%, remained the area with the highest positivity rate.

The one-week growth rate in new COVID-19 cases has decreased to 15%, while the average daily attack rate reached 6.43 per day per 100,000 as of July 22.

Healthcare utilization rate in NCR is at 34% and ICU occupancy is at 26%, both remaining below the critical risk threshold of 50%.

The Department of Health reported 3,604 new COVID-19 cases nationwide on Saturday, bringing the active infections to 25,743.

The DOH and LGUs are set to launch a campaign on July 26 to administer booster shots to 50% of the country's eligible population in three months.
