NBI arrests 11 employees and fixers for clearance racket

Operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) arrested four of its own employees and seven fixers for allegedly colluding in the issuance of NBI clearance certificates.

The arrests were made during an entrapment operation conducted by the NBI-Cybercrime Division (CCD) and the NBI-Special Task Force (STF).

The NBI employees, working under the Information and Communication Technology Division, allegedly processed clearance applications for fees ranging from P800 to P2,000.

NBI Director Jaime B. Santiago reiterated his commitment to integrity and warned against corrupt practices, vowing to be relentless in pursuing violations of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act Law.

The apprehended suspects face charges for violating several laws, including the Revised Penal Code, the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, and the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018.
