Navy, PCG form task group to secure Manila Bay vs COVID-19

The Philippine Navy and Philippine Coast Guard have formed a joint task group, Task Group Laban COVID-19, to secure Manila Bay and enforce the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine.

The task group will intercept and deny entry and exit of commercial passenger watercraft in Manila Bay to prevent virus transmission, suspending all sea travel to and from Luzon except for essential travel.

Personnel and sea assets from the Navy's 2nd Patrol Boat Division, including four patrol boats and two rigid-hull inflatable boats (RHIBs) on standby, along with two RHIBs from the Naval Special Operations Group, are deployed.

The sailors and marines appealed to the public to stay at home for their safety, emphasizing that their efforts are for the welfare of all Filipinos.
