Navy distributes rice to 260 families in Baseco

The Philippine Navy's Naval Special Operations Group (NAVSOG) distributed rice to 260 families in the Baseco compound, Tondo, Manila, as part of the government's social amelioration program.

This initiative aims to cushion the socio-economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on vulnerable communities.

The distribution was conducted in coordination with the AFP Leadership and Development Center and in partnership with individual donors.

Rear Admiral Loumer Bernabe stated that the Navy's assets are readily available to assist the government in addressing the pandemic's effects.

Special operators utilized inflatable boats and 10-foot pole hooks to deliver rice sacks to families living along the Pasig River.

This effort also served as a test run for utilizing Navy assets to aid impoverished coastal and riverside communities during crises.

The Philippine Navy supports the government's 'whole-of-nation' approach against COVID-19 by mitigating its social, economic, and security impacts.
