BI reports 10% passenger surge at NAIA

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has reported a 10 percent increase in passenger traffic at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

Daily departures at NAIA Terminal 3 have reached nearly 17,000 passengers, with daily arrivals around 16,000.

Morning operations at NAIA Terminal 3 have seen the most significant growth in passenger numbers.

To manage the surge, BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco has directed the terminal to ensure all counters are fully staffed for efficient service.

Tansingco also highlighted the need for more space to install additional counters and hire more personnel.

Approximately 150 new immigration officers have been deployed to international airports, with an additional 59 expected from Terminal 2 operations.

Airport authorities have committed to constructing additional counters by the end of the year.

NAIA Terminal 3 currently has 26 counters and five e-gates in the arrival area, and 30 counters in the departure area.

A separate departure area for overseas Filipino workers, diplomats, and special assistance passengers is planned.
