Muntinlupa starts second COVID booster for immunocompromised

Muntinlupa City began administering second COVID-19 booster shots on April 26, prioritizing immunocompromised individuals.

As of April 27, a total of 45 immunocompromised residents have received their second booster shots across various barangays.

The FDA issued an Emergency Use Authorization for the second booster on April 13, also for senior citizens and frontline healthcare workers.

The DOH stated the second booster is recommended due to waning immunity.

Immunocompromised individuals eligible for the second booster include those with immunodeficiency, HIV, active cancer, transplant recipients, those on immunosuppressive drugs, and terminal or bedridden patients.

These individuals can receive their second booster three months after their first booster dose.

The available vaccine brands for the second booster include AstraZeneca, Moderna, Pfizer, Sinovac, and Sinopharm.
