MRT-3 deploys 90 buses for weekend passengers this July to September

Ninety augmentation buses will be deployed by the MRT-3 administration this weekend to ferry passengers affected by the suspension of operations on July 4-5, August 8-9, August 21-23, and September 12-13.

The bus augmentation program, in coordination with the DOTr road sector and LTFRB, aims to ferry passengers during the MRT-3's weekend operational shutdowns.

The first bus will depart at 5:30 a.m. and the last bus will depart at 8:00 p.m. from North Avenue and Taft Avenue stations.

Southbound loading stations are North Avenue and Quezon Avenue stations, while unloading stations are Ayala and Taft Avenue stations.

Northbound loading stations are Taft Avenue and Ayala stations, while unloading stations are Ayala, Quezon Avenue, and North Avenue stations.

These weekend suspensions are scheduled to expedite the replacement of rails and turnout works for both North Avenue and South Avenue stations, which is expected to be finished by December this year.

This project is expected to increase train operation speed from 40kph to 60kph and decrease train intervals to 3.5 minutes by December 2020.
