MMDA installs larger drainage inlets at MRT-7 Batasan Station to curb flooding

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMMA) has installed two larger drainage inlets near the MRT-7 Batasan Station on Commonwealth Avenue to address flooding.

The previous one-square-foot inlet was identified as a primary cause of recent flooding during monsoon rains.

Each of the new 2x3 meter inlets features grating designed to allow water passage while filtering trash.

MMDA Chairman Atty. Romando "Don" Artes stated that the current steel grates are temporary and will be replaced with more robust, fabricated versions.

Artes expressed hope that these improvements will effectively mitigate future flooding.

If flooding persists due to an MRT-7 post obstructing the main outlet, the MMDA has mobile pumps ready to divert water into the nearby Ilang-Ilang Creek.
