The number coding scheme in Metro Manila will remain in effect on Monday, July 22, the day of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s third State of the Nation Address (SONA).
Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Acting Chairperson Romando Artes stated that suspending the scheme would worsen traffic congestion by allowing more vehicles on the road.
Vehicles with plate numbers ending in 1 and 2 are restricted from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The MMDA has outlined a traffic plan for the SONA, which includes road closures on parts of Commonwealth Avenue and IBP Road.
Additionally, 2,000 personnel will be deployed to manage expected heavy traffic, particularly in Quezon City.
The public is advised to avoid non-urgent travel near the Batasan area and watch the SONA from home.
