Meralco edges NorthPort 105-104 to end losing skid

Meralco staged a dramatic late-game comeback, defeating NorthPort 105-104 at the Philsports Arena to snap their three-game losing streak in the PBA Philippine Cup.

The reigning PBA Philippine Cup kings battled back from a five-point deficit inside the final 30 seconds, with Bong Quinto scoring the go-ahead bucket with 2.7 seconds left.

NorthPort missed crucial free throws in the final seconds, going a combined 0/4 from the line, which allowed Meralco to close out the game on a 6-0 run.

Chris Newsome led Meralco with 24 points, scoring 8 in the final period, including the free throws that pulled the Bolts within one point.

Joshua Munzon led NorthPort with a career-high 36 points, but his efforts were not enough.

The victory improved Meralco's standing to 3-3, while NorthPort dropped to 1-4 after their fourth consecutive defeat.
