Matet de Leon mourns Nora Aunor, regrets limited communication

Matet de Leon expressed deep regret and emotional sorrow over her past rifts with her late mother, National Artist Nora Aunor, admitting they did not communicate frequently.

During her eulogy at her mother's wake, Matet de Leon described herself as Aunor's "rebellious" or "sutil" daughter, according to her mother's friends and her own admission.

A notable public dispute between them occurred in 2022 when Matet accused Aunor of directly competing with her gourmet tuyo business, leading Matet to declare she would never speak to her mother again.

Fortunately, the mother and daughter reconciled within a month following that specific disagreement.

Despite their reconciliation, Matet acknowledged that there were many instances when she and her mother could not speak, unlike her siblings who maintained more regular contact with Aunor.

Matet de Leon burst into tears during her eulogy, expressing hope that her mother heard her final words and presence during her last hours.
