Nora Aunor, Philippine cinema's Superstar, dies at 71

Philippine cinema's "Superstar," Nora Aunor, passed away on Wednesday night, April 16, at the age of 71, as announced by her daughter Lotlot de Leon.

The cause of her death has not been revealed by her children.

Aunor, born Nora Cabaltera Villamayor, began her career in the 1960s as a singer and was celebrated for her impactful film roles in movies such as "Himala," "Bulaklak sa City Jail," and "The Flor Contemplacion Story."

She was recognized with numerous awards for her acting, including Best Actress accolades from Gawad Urian and FAMAS.

Public viewing for Aunor will be held at The Chapels at Heritage Park from April 19 to April 20.

Interment is scheduled for April 22 at Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig City.

Details regarding state funeral services and state necrological services in her honor are expected to be announced.
