Marcos: Probe into Villar firms not personal, aims to fix essential services

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. reiterated that the administration's investigation into the Villar family's companies, PrimeWater and SIPCOR, is not personal.

Marcos emphasized that the objective is to address issues concerning essential services like electricity and water for the public, stating, "People have to have electricity and water."

The probe into PrimeWater was initiated due to consumer complaints regarding its services.

PrimeWater has expressed willingness to engage in dialogue and cooperate with the Local Water Utilities Administration to resolve concerns.

The Energy Regulatory Commission revoked SIPCOR's operating permit for Siquijor province due to alleged non-compliance with requirements, a move Marcos stated he would support to ensure Filipinos have electricity.

He added that while he respects the Villar family, his administration will do whatever is necessary to fix the problems with these utility providers.
