Marcos Jr. appoints ex-SC Justice Reyes chair of infrastructure commission

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. appointed former Supreme Court Justice Andres Reyes Jr. as the chair of the Independent Commission on Infrastructure (ICI).

The three-member panel also includes former Public Works Secretary Rogelio Singson and SGV and Co. country managing partner Rossana Fajardo, who took their oath of office on Monday.

Retired police general and Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong serves as the commission's special adviser and investigator.

Malacañang expects the ICI to name its executive director, who will manage the commission's day-to-day operations, within the week.

The ICI's funding will come from the Office of the President, and the Department of Budget and Management is tasked with identifying its budget.

While the ICI has been granted subpoena powers, President Marcos stated that contempt powers are not necessary as the body is investigative, not prosecutorial.
