OP to fund newly created infrastructure commission

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) clarified that the Independent Commission on Infrastructure (ICI) will be funded through the Office of the President.

DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman stated that the Office of the President's budget will be tapped first, and if insufficient, the DBM will provide funds, charging expenses to the contingent fund.

The ICI was recently established by President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. to investigate irregularities in flood control projects following widespread flooding.

The commission will receive an initial funding of P21 million for personnel services (PS) charged to the Office of the President's Miscellaneous Personnel Benefit Fund.

Funding for the ICI's Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE) and capital outlays will come from the Office of the President's contingent fund.

The ICI began its work by meeting with representatives from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and is currently establishing its organizational structure.
