Marcos Jr. claims all guerrilla fronts eliminated, CPP calls it farcical

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. stated during his fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA) that all guerrilla fronts have been eliminated and vowed that no new insurgent groups will be formed.

He highlighted the collaboration between the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), and former rebels in maintaining peace and order, particularly in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

Marcos Jr. mentioned that thousands of former rebels have surrendered and are now living normal lives with their families, with the government assisting them through community development and livelihood projects.

The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) called the President's declaration "farcical" and predicted it would "explode in Marcos' face."

This claim of eliminating guerrilla fronts was previously made by Marcos in January 2024, stating that the New People's Army's (NPA) 89 guerrilla fronts had been dismantled.

Government forces reported the deaths of seven supposed NPA fighters in a clash in Masbate province over the weekend.
