Marcos admin support drops to 18% amid flood control scandal

This decline in public confidence is largely attributed to a widening flood control scandal involving alleged collusion between politicians and contractors to defraud billions of pesos.

The survey also indicates a shift in public sentiment, with more Filipinos expressing neutral views towards opposition politicians and a decrease in anti-opposition sentiment.

Publicus Asia suggests this moderation in political views stems from voter fatigue with partisan conflict, the fragmentation of opposition groups, and a growing focus on governance issues.

The flood control controversy has particularly resonated with the public due to the magnitude of the alleged fraud and the essential nature of such infrastructure projects in the Philippines.
