Mapúa launches AI-focused education hub, new engineering program

Mapúa Education Group has launched the Co-Intelligence for Education Hub to integrate AI into traditional human learning, aiming to enhance critical judgment, creativity, and ethical reasoning.

The initiative now includes a new Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence Engineering program, the first of its kind in the country, to prepare students for AI-driven industries.

The program seeks to produce specialists who can drive innovation in one of the world's fastest-growing fields, as AI is reshaping industries and redefining skills.

Mapúa plans to embed AI literacy and critical thinking across all academic programs, including non-engineering disciplines, as part of its 'co-intelligence' strategy.

The Co-Intelligence Hub will equip faculty and staff with AI tools to support teaching, research, and institutional operations.

Students will learn AI fundamentals, responsible use, and how to leverage AI for future career opportunities, with 92% already using generative AI tools for academic tasks.

The initiative acknowledges the urgency of preparing learners as 36% of jobs in the Philippines are projected to be displaced by AI, necessitating a shift in education and workforce readiness.
