MAP urges DOTr, Congress to fund EDSA Busway stations in 2026 budget

The Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) is urging the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Congress to allocate funds in the 2026 budget for dedicated stations for the EDSA Busway System.

MAP highlighted that the EDSA Busway System served more than 63 million passengers in 2024, or about 177,000 commuters daily.

The organization pointed out that commuters have been using MRT-3 stations as access points for the busway for the past five years, leading to severe congestion for both MRT-3 and busway passengers.

MAP specifically listed several potential locations for new dedicated stations, including Kamuning, Cubao/Araneta, Santolan, and Ayala/EDSA.

The DOTr has announced plans to construct stations in Cubao and Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) next year, in addition to rehabilitating existing stations like Monumento, Bagong Barrio, North Avenue, and Guadalupe.

MAP urged the inclusion of busway funding in the DOTr's 2026 budget proposal, suggesting funds from flood control projects could be reallocated to the Busway System.
