UP-NIH test kits to be distributed this week: DOH exec
Manila HealthTek Inc. is aiming to produce 16,000 COVID-19 test kits developed by the University of the Philippines (UP) per day by May.
Each UP-made test kit can test 25 individuals and utilizes the RT-PCR method.
The UP National Institutes of Health (UP-NIH) will start distributing these locally-produced test kits within the week.
Initially, these test kits will be given to the Philippine General Hospital, Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center, Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, Southern Philippines Medical Center, Makati Medical Center, and The Medical City.
A total of 1,300 UP-NIH test kits can perform 26,000 COVID-19 tests.
