PH bags 7th SEA Games gold as Mangin dethrones Thai champ

Tachiana Mangin, 18, secured the Philippines' seventh gold medal at the 2025 Southeast Asian Games.

She defeated home bet Kamonchanok Seeken of Thailand, ending Thailand's long reign in the women's -49kg kyorugi event.

Seeken is a formidable opponent who won silver medals in the women's 46kg class in the 2023 World Taekwondo Championships and 2024 Asian Taekwondo Championships.

This victory marks the Philippines' second gold medal on the third day of the games, following the baseball team's earlier win.

Mangin is also the first Filipina to win a gold medal at the World Junior Taekwondo Championships last year.

Taekwondo contributed another gold medal through Justin Macario in poomsae earlier in the week.

Laila Delo won a silver medal in the women's -73kg kyorugi, while Nusair Lao also secured silver in the men's -68kg kyorugi.
