Makati gov't to give P5,000 cash aid to qualified residents

Makati City government will provide P5,000 in economic aid to each qualified resident aged 18 and above.

The MAKA-tulong 5K for 500K+ Makatizens program has a budget of P2.7 billion to assist approximately 500,000 individuals impacted by the pandemic-induced lockdown.

Mayor Abby Binay clarified that the P5,000 aid is per person, not per household, and applies to all registered voters and holders of Makatizen or Yellow health cards.

The distribution of the cash aid will commence electronically on Friday, May 15, starting with 71,000 Makatizen cardholders, totaling P354 million.

Recipients can check their status via the Makatizen app or the Makati City government portal.

The city has already screened and assessed potential recipients, ensuring all qualified residents will receive the aid.

Beneficiaries must spend at least P1 from the P5,000 within 30 days to keep it valid.
