Mandaue, Eastern Visayas log suspected mpox cases

Mandaue City's City Health Office confirmed a suspected case of mpox in a 39-year-old male with no recent travel history outside Cebu, who developed skin lesions.

The patient is currently isolated at home and has received medical and food assistance.

Specimen samples have been sent to the Department of Health (DOH-7) for confirmatory testing at the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine.

Health officials urge the public not to panic as the case is still under investigation and remind residents to remain vigilant.

Preventive measures such as wearing face masks, frequent handwashing, and avoiding crowded areas are encouraged.

Individuals experiencing unusual skin rashes or symptoms are advised to isolate or seek immediate medical attention.

Eastern Visayas has logged a suspected mpox case in Maasin City involving a 55-year-old woman, who is currently in home isolation.

Intensive contact tracing is being conducted, and mandatory health protocols have been reimposed in Maasin City.
