LTO to enforce same-day release of license plates

LTO Chief Vigor Mendoza II has issued a memorandum circular outlining the guidelines for this new policy, which is set to take effect nationwide on October 15.

Mendoza stated that the LTO assessed that the release could be accomplished on the same day a new vehicle is purchased and released to its owner.
The new policy aims to prevent a recurrence of the license plate backlog, which the LTO recently resolved after producing 12 million plates in June.
