LRMC unions demand public apology from acting transport secretary over alleged verbal abuse

Unions at the Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) are demanding a public apology from Acting Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez.

They accuse Lopez of publicly humiliating and verbally abusing an LRT-1 station manager during an inspection of the Baclaran station's facilities.

The unions stated that the station manager was blamed for systemic issues beyond her control, calling the incident a "PR stunt" at the employee's expense.

While acknowledging Lopez's concern for passengers, the unions emphasized that workers should not be publicly shamed and that such actions demoralize employees.

They asserted that no government official has the right to verbally abuse workers and called for accountability with respect.

The unions are also calling for a formal investigation into staffing shortages and an official public statement from transport agencies.
