LPA may become tropical depression Dodong, bringing more rain to PH

The southwest monsoon and a low pressure area (LPA) are expected to bring more rainfall across the Philippines, particularly over Luzon, according to PAGASA.

The LPA, located northeast of Infanta, Quezon, has a chance of developing into a tropical depression named Dodong within the next 48 hours.

Dodong would be the fourth tropical cyclone to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility this year and the first for July.

The southwest monsoon will continue to affect Southern Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao, causing continuous heavy rain in most of Luzon.

Occasional rain is anticipated in Mimaropa and Calabarzon, while scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are forecast for six other regions.

Isolated rain showers from localized thunderstorms are possible in the remaining two regions.

PAGASA warned that flooding and landslides are potential risks due to the ongoing rainfall, which is expected to continue until the weekend.
