A low-pressure area (LPA) and the southwest monsoon (habagat) will continue to bring rain showers across a large part of the Philippines.
As of early Wednesday morning, the LPA was located 200 kilometers east northeast of Casiguran, Aurora, and shows a high potential of developing into a tropical cyclone within 24 hours.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) indicated that Signal No. 1 may be hoisted over eastern parts of Northern and Central Luzon once the LPA intensifies into a cyclone.
The LPA is expected to cause scattered rains and thunderstorms in the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, and the provinces of Aurora and Nueva Ecija.
Meanwhile, the habagat will bring similar weather conditions to Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, and the rest of Central Luzon.
PAGASA warned that moderate to heavy rains in these areas could lead to flash floods or landslides.
Isolated rains and thunderstorms are also expected over the rest of the country due to the habagat.
