LPA trough, amihan to bring scattered rains across PH

The trough of a low-pressure area (LPA) and the southwest monsoon are expected to bring scattered rains to most parts of the Philippines on Sunday.

As of 3 a.m. Sunday, the LPA was located 440 km east of Catarman, Northern Samar.

The LPA's trough will primarily affect Eastern Visayas, Bicol Region, and Quezon, bringing cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms.

The southwest monsoon will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Ilocos Region, Zambales, and Bataan, and may cause partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms in Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan.

The rest of the country may experience isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

Residents in affected areas are warned of possible flash floods or landslides during the rainy conditions.

While the chance of the LPA intensifying into a typhoon remains low, PAGASA has not ruled out the possibility of it developing into one in the coming days.

PAGASA did not raise a gale warning over the country's seaboards.
