LPA to enter PAR, may become tropical depression 'Enteng'

A low pressure area (LPA) east of Butuan City is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) within 24 hours and may be named 'Enteng'.

The LPA, estimated to be 695 kilometers east of Butuan City as of 3 a.m., will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers over parts of Visayas and Mindanao.

PAGASA weather specialist Grace Castañeda stated that there is a high chance the LPA will become a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.

The LPA may enhance the southwest monsoon (habagat), bringing scattered rains to Southern Luzon and parts of Visayas.

Areas such as Caraga, Davao Region, Northern Mindanao, SOCCSKSARGEN, Central Visayas, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, Leyte, Southern Leyte, and Eastern Samar will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms.

Moderate to heavy rains may cause flash floods or landslides in these areas, as well as in Palawan and the rest of Mindanao which will have similar conditions due to the southwest monsoon.

Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, and Occidental Mindoro will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, with the possibility of flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
