Envoy Locsin joins Ayungin resupply mission, witnesses Chinese militia

Philippine Special Envoy to China Teodoro Locsin Jr. joined a resupply mission to the BRP Sierra Madre at Ayungin Shoal to gain firsthand information on the situation in the West Philippine Sea.

He was aboard the BRP Cabra and witnessed Chinese maritime militia vessels obstructing the mission, despite which the Philippine Coast Guard declared the resupply successful.

The Department of Foreign Affairs stated that Locsin's participation was an official mission to enable him to effectively convey Philippine concerns to China.

Locsin, who also serves as the Philippine ambassador to the United Kingdom, was appointed special envoy to China for special concerns in August 2023 by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
