4Ps Rep Libanan elected House Minority Leader

4Ps party-list Representative Marcelino Libanan has been formally elected as the House of Representatives' Minority Leader for the 20th Congress.

A motion to install him was not opposed during the plenary session, with all 30 members of the Minority unanimously electing him.

Caloocan 2nd District Representative Edgar Erice announced Libanan's unanimous election, citing his experience, regard for public service, and dedication to the betterment of institutions and the people.

Libanan, also the Minority Leader of the 19th Congress, had secured pledges of support from lawmakers prior to the session.

Notable supporters in the previous Congress included opposition lawmakers such as Leila de Lima, Chel Diokno, and Antonio Tinio.

In the previous Congress, Libanan delivered the "Kontra-SONA," the minority leader's traditional response to the President's State of the Nation Address.

It is important to note that the House minority leader is not necessarily the overall leader of the opposition in the Philippine political system.
