LGUs agree to home quarantine for returning OFWs

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque previously stated that the Palace respects the decision of local government units (LGUs) to require repatriated overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to undergo another round of quarantine.

LGUs expressed frustration over the lack of coordination from the inter-agency task force regarding the "Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-asa (BP2)" program.

However, Interior Secretary Eduardo Año announced that all LGUs have agreed to implement home quarantine for returning OFWs instead of isolating them from their residences.

Año stated that returning OFWs are negative for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) based on test results after undergoing a 14-day mandatory quarantine.

If their homes are congested, OFWs can be placed in isolation facilities within their barangays.

Close to 12,000 OFWs were expected to arrive in their provinces on Saturday.
