Laudiangco remains Comelec acting spox until new chair named

Lawyer John Rex Laudiangco will continue to serve as the acting spokesperson for the Commission on Elections (Comelec) until a new chairperson is appointed.

Acting Comelec Chairperson Socorro Inting confirmed this through a memo dated June 10.

Laudiangco, who also heads the Comelec's Law Department, was initially appointed as acting spokesperson in May by former Comelec chair Saidamen Pangarungan.

He replaced James Jimenez after the latter was involved in the PiliPinas Debates 2022 fiasco.

Laudiangco's designation lapsed when Pangarungan's appointment was bypassed by the Commission on Appointments due to the absence of a quorum on June 1.

Inting was named as acting election body chief on June 2, as she is the most senior commissioner.
