Lagman: Liberal Party remains genuine opposition

The Liberal Party (LP) remains the country's "genuine opposition," according to Albay Representative Edcel Lagman, despite some saying that Vice President Sara Duterte should now become opposition leader.

Lagman stated that while Duterte might lead a "partisan opposition" to the Marcos Jr. administration, the LP continues to uphold its principles of good governance, participatory democracy, constitutionalism, human rights protection, and anti-authoritarian rule.

This stance counters the claim made by former spokesperson Harry Roque that Duterte has become the new opposition leader following the supposed fallout of the Uniteam alliance.

LP spokesperson and former Senator Leila de Lima added that a genuine opposition leader has "accountability, is transparent and has a heart for the people."
