Lacuna, Moreno, Verzosa launch Manila mayoral bids

Incumbent Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna, former Mayor Isko Moreno, and Congressman Sam Verzosa launched their respective campaigns for the mayoral post on Friday, March 28.

Mayor Honey Lacuna commenced her reelection bid with a door-to-door campaign and a mass, stating that while Manila is not perfect, it is not filthy, and vowed not to let "traitors put to waste" her administration's services.

Former Mayor Isko Moreno initiated his campaign with a city-wide motorcade and a proclamation rally, accusing the current administration of turning the city into a "dugyot" (filthy) place with increased crime and garbage.

Businessman and Tutok to Win Party-list Rep. Sam Verzosa offered himself as an alternative, holding a motorcade and a program in Divisoria.

Moreno expressed excitement and gratitude for the large turnout of supporters during his motorcade and stated his intention to avoid negative campaigning.

The campaigns mark a significant political contest for the leadership of Manila, featuring prominent local figures, with Moreno, Lacuna-Pangan, and Verzosa among 11 candidates for the mayoral post.
