Lacson prioritizes internal cleansing of Senate Blue Ribbon panel amid bribery allegations

Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo Lacson, now chair of the Blue Ribbon committee, will prioritize internal cleansing due to alleged anomalies in flood control projects.

This action follows a House hearing where a Bulacan engineer presented conversations implicating a staff member named Beng Ramos in bribery, who has since been removed from the committee.

Senator Jinggoy Estrada denied having a staff member named Beng Ramos, stating the individual was under the Senate Blue Ribbon committee.

Lacson noted the need for reform as the panel investigates government misconduct and emphasized that the committee should be beyond reproach.

Previously, a former Bulacan assistant district engineer claimed Senator Estrada received a 30 percent kickback from project allocations.
