Lacson denies links to Discaya couple, calls photo attempt to discredit him

Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo "Ping" M. Lacson has refuted claims linking him to the Discaya couple, who are under investigation for alleged anomalies in flood control projects.

Lacson stated that an old photograph circulating online showing him with Cezarah and Pacifico Discaya II was intended to damage his credibility as the head of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee's probe into these projects.

He confirmed the photo's authenticity, explaining it was taken during the 2025 election campaign period at his Taguig City office and had no political or financial implications.

The meeting was arranged by a supporter, Fred Villaroman, and the Discayas attended to invite Lacson to a rally for the Pinoy Ako party-list, for which their son was a nominee.

Lacson declined the invitation due to political courtesy towards Senate President Vicente "Tito" Sotto III, whose nephew, Vico Sotto, was running against Mrs. Discaya for Pasig City mayor.
