Lacson calls for PCAB overhaul amid flood control project probe

Senator Panfilo Lacson has called for a complete overhaul of the Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board (PCAB) in light of ongoing investigations into questionable flood control projects.

Lacson's call follows the resignation of PCAB Executive Director Herbert Matienzo and comes after the senator previously exposed alleged anomalies in government flood control projects.

He described the PCAB as a "low-key yet corruption-ridden regulatory body" that, in conjunction with the DPWH, has allegedly siphoned off taxpayer money.

Senator Erwin Tulfo, vice chairperson of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, stated that Matienzo's resignation, though expected, does not exempt him from potential liability.

Tulfo emphasized the importance of preserving all documents that could serve as evidence for the alleged anomalies and affirmed that investigations will continue regardless of whether officials are still in their positions.
