Rep Ortega warns against pro-China candidates

La Union Rep. Paolo Ortega urged Filipinos to reject election candidates who promote a pro-China stance, calling them part of "Team China" and accusing them of pushing a "script" from Beijing.

He advised voters to be wary of candidates who echo anti-Balikatan, anti-EDCA, or pro-Beijing narratives, stating that those with foreign backing are acting in a treasonous manner.

Ortega contrasted these candidates with those supporting the Marcos administration, who he believes are working to protect the Philippines from foreign interference.

The congressman emphasized that the current situation is not just foreign influence but foreign interference designed to infiltrate Philippine politics and weaken the country.

He warned that candidates leaning towards China, which has been encroaching on Philippine maritime territory, are not leaders but puppets.

Ortega’s remarks follow the uncovering of a deal between a local marketing firm and the Chinese embassy for the use of "keyboard warriors" during a Senate hearing.
