La Salle's Mason Amos suffers MCL tear, out for multiple weeks

La Salle Green Archers forward Mason Amos sustained a medial collateral ligament (MCL) tear in his right knee during a game against the NU Bulldogs, impacting their UAAP Season 88 campaign.

The injury occurred in the fourth quarter following a collision with NU's Gelo Tolentino, and an MRI scan confirmed the MCL tear.

Amos described hearing a pop in his knee and is expected to be sidelined for multiple weeks or longer, dealing a significant blow to La Salle's playoff aspirations.

Amos, a transferee from Ateneo and a Gilas Pilipinas standout, was a key scorer for the Green Archers, who have started the season with a 2-3 record and lost their last two games.

Head coach Topex Robinson expressed faith in his team's preparedness for such situations and sees this as an opportunity for another player to step up.

La Salle aims to end their losing streak against the University of the East on Wednesday.
