JV Ejercito backs independent probe on flood control project anomalies

Senator JV Ejercito supports President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s plan to establish an independent commission to investigate anomalies in flood control projects.

Ejercito believes Congress should not investigate itself, especially if members may be involved, and that an independent body is better suited to ensure accountability and restore public trust.

He proposed the commission be composed of engineers, professionals, retired justices of unquestionable integrity, and representatives from the religious sector and civil society.

The senator stressed the importance of holding the guilty accountable to protect the innocent and demonstrate that taxpayers' money is not being misused.

Malacañang has announced that an executive order to create this independent investigative body is being finalized.

President Marcos Jr. explained that the commission will be completely separate from the government and will have the authority to investigate anyone, including members of Congress.
