Jia De Guzman to captain Alas Pilipinas in SEA Games aiming to end 20-year medal drought

Jia De Guzman will captain the 14-woman Philippine women's volleyball team, Alas Pilipinas, in the upcoming 33rd Southeast Asian Games in Thailand.

The team aims to break a 20-year medal drought in the biennial meet.

The current roster is tentative and may be adjusted upon the approval of the Philippine Olympic Committee, following a request from Brazilian coach Jorge Souza De Brito.

De Guzman and Mars Alba will be responsible for setting up the offense under coach De Brito's guidance.

Key spikers in the lineup include Bella Belen, Alyssa Solomon, Angel Canino, Shaina Nitura, Eya Laure, Vanie Gandler, and Alleiah Malaluan.

The frontline defense will be anchored by Dell Palomata, Amie Provido, and Maddie Madayag.

Libero duties will be handled by Dawn Catindig and Justine Jazareno.
