Isko Moreno campaign rejects unity talks proposal

A volunteer group supporting Manila Mayor Isko Moreno proposed unity talks among presidential candidates Leni Robredo, Ping Lacson, and Manny Pacquiao to strategize against Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

The group suggested that candidates consider withdrawing in favor of the one with the best chance to defeat Marcos Jr., or focus criticisms on the front-runner if trailing.

However, Isko Moreno's campaign manager, Lito Banayo, rejected the call for renewed unity talks, stating that such efforts are unlikely to succeed.

Banayo emphasized that Moreno's campaign is focused on fighting for the rights of ordinary people, not against other political factions.

He also cited the 1987 Constitution's provision for a multi-party system, suggesting that multiple presidential candidates should be able to vie for the presidency.

Moreno himself stated that he is "staying the course 'til the end" and will not withdraw from the presidential race.

Banayo also denied reports that the Visayas chapter of Moreno's volunteer group, Ikaw Muna (IM) Pilipinas, had withdrawn its support and switched to Robredo.
