Isko Moreno announces presidential bid with Willie Ong as running mate

Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko" Domagoso has officially announced his presidential bid for the 2022 elections, with doctor Willie Ong as his running mate.

Domagoso's decision places him in a competitive field that includes boxing champion Senator Manny Pacquiao and Senator Panfilo Lacson, both of whom have also declared their presidential ambitions.

Adding to the political landscape, former Senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr. is expected to vie for a national position, while there is also public clamor for Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio to run for president.

President Rodrigo Duterte has publicly commented that Domagoso is not deserving of the presidency due to his past as an actor, a background contrasting with his humble beginnings as a scavenger and pedicab driver.

Vice President Leni Robredo has expressed a willingness to support a Domagoso-Pacquiao tandem as a strategy to challenge the dominance of the ruling party.
